Since April 2022, together with our local partner Anwesana, we have been offering our Day Care School leavers in Mayurbhanj District, Odisha, India, additional lessons in their free time. The project contributes to improving the educational pattern and aims to help them successfully complete grade 10 at the public school. The participating girls and boys are between 10 and 16 years old.

What we do

During discussions with the residents of the villages of Baliposi and Talapadia, Anwesana found that the children who had attended our day care school and are now being taught at the state school do not have optimal educational conditions there due to a lack of teachers. Although the children are interested in learning more, they do not receive adequate schooling due to this situation. However, the children's families are not financially able to pay for additional tuition in the form of private tutoring. Furthermore, there are many holidays during the school year, which also leads to the children not receiving an adequate education.

Therefore, we decided to arrange for a private teacher to teach the children outside of school hours so that the children can continue their education without dropping out of school. For six days a week, the children attend tutoring for two hours each.

Project goals

  • Providing additional education for 22 children who have graduated from our day care school.
  • Encouraging the children's moral thinking process through special education.
  • Promoting the children's inherent abilities through various learning methods
  • Enhancing the children's ability to learn
  • Enhancing their educational skills with a special focus on ensuring that the children continue their education and achieve success.
  • Increasing productivity in children's education
  • Girls of the Mankidia tribe (whose parents are illiterate) to successfully complete grade 10 in public school.
