Happy children for a better future
School materials for children in the slums
Budget: CHF 4'776
The project was implemented in the slums of Jakarta, Indonesia, to improve the welfare of school children in the area. The programme was led by ChildRight Now International and Putra Putri Seva Indonesia (PPSI) and aimed to help children by providing essential school supplies such as pens, notebooks and backpacks. It took place in July 2023.
The achievements of the programm were significant:
- Improved access to education: The programme increased access to education by providing essential school materials to targeted beneficiaries. This led to increased school attendance rates and increased motivation of children to attend school. Students showed improved participation and active attendance in class.
- Positive well-being and self-confidence: The provision of pencils, notebooks and backpacks had a positive impact on the well-being and self-confidence of the school children. They showed increased interest in learning, improved self-esteem and pride in owning their own educational materials.
- Strengthened community collaboration: The success of the programme was attributed to the strong collaboration with local schools, community organisations and stakeholders. This collaboration fostered a sense of ownership and shared responsibility, which ensured the sustainability and long-term impact of the programme.
- Overall, the project has helped to improve access to education, increase children's well-being and self-confidence, and strengthen community cooperation. These successes are crucial for the long-term positive development of school children in the slums of Jakarta.
