Education as the key to the future

Promoting education for children in Mahulabadi

Children's education is an essential part of a society's development. Especially in rural and remote areas such as the village of Mahulabadi in the Mayurbhanj district in the Indian state of Odisha, access to quality education is often limited.

What we do

The main objective of this project is to support children in their learning process so that they can receive a basic education. With this initiative, we aim to ensure that no child in this region, including the tribal communities, remains uneducated. Many of the children in this village either do not go to school because they have to help their parents to generate an income or they drop out of school after a certain time because they cannot keep up with the level of the other pupils at the public school. ChildRightNow's partner organisation has therefore set up an education centre in the village of Mahulabadi, which provides educational opportunities for 39 children aged three to eleven outside of regular school hours.

These additional educational programmes are intended to improve the children's school performance and reduce the drop-out rate. Special educational programmes are also designed to strengthen the children's moral reasoning skills in order to develop their personal and social skills. Various learning methods are used to promote the children's inherent abilities and increase their learning capacity.

A special focus is placed on strengthening the children's academic skills so that they can continue their education successfully.Continuous support and targeted educational measures are intended to increase the productivity and efficiency of the children in the education process. A particular success of this project will be that the first cohort of girls from the tribal community will successfully complete the tenth grade
