Freeing voices, saving lives

Budget: CHF 22'821

The project was able to achieve remarkable success in a short space of time by tackling the multi-layered challenges in a holistic manner. Some outstanding achievements are:

The project has provided access to education for vulnerable women and children so that they can protect themselves from exploitation and trafficking. Additional coaching and educational support has helped these individuals to pursue their academic goals and break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability.

Through the formation of self-help groups (SHGs) and training in income-generating activities, women have been empowered to become financially independent. By providing tools, resources and microfinance, women have been able to start their own businesses and generate sustainable incomes for themselves and their families.

The project has successfully mobilised communities to work together to combat human trafficking and exploitation. Through the establishment of community-based organisations and the organisation of public events such as mass rallies and meetings, awareness of the issue has been raised and a sense of solidarity and unity among members has been fostered.

Communities are now aware of the dangers of human trafficking and know methods of prevention. They are proactive in recognising potential trafficking situations and protecting those at risk.

Health camps and access to health services have improved the health and well-being of women and children. The project has addressed the immediate health needs of vulnerable people with medical treatment, nutritional supplements and hygiene kits and promoted general wellbeing.

Through leadership training, women have been equipped with the tools they need to participate in decision-making processes and bring about positive change in their communities. Purposeful women have developed an awareness of their rights and responsibilities, which has led to increased confidence and assertiveness.

Women are now more resilient to violence and discrimination. They have created support systems in their communities and actively stand up for their rights.

The successful outcomes of the project have generated interest in replicating similar initiatives in other trafficked areas. There is a growing recognition of the importance of community-led interventions in the fight against human trafficking.

Overall, the project has made a lasting difference to the lives of women and communities by enabling them to resist trafficking, claim their rights and build a better future for themselves and future generations.
