Anwesana

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) Anwesana, based in the Indian state of Odisha, was founded in 1996 and began working with ChildRightNow International in 2015. Anwesana is particularly committed to helping vulnerable tribal communities and people affected by poverty in the rural regions of Odisha.

Focus:

  1. Helping marginalised communities communicate their interests and exercise their rights
  2. Quality of life, dignity and freedom for marginalised communities
  3. Holistic development in the areas of health, education, economy and socialisation for the general population and especially for marginalised groups in remote and inaccessible regions of Odisha

SURAKHYA

SURAKHYA is an Indian NGO founded in 2020 by social workers, young people and academics. It promotes community organisations, strengthens the community and fights against oppression. Its goal is to create a just world through community participation and sustainable development.

Focus:

  1. Promoting community organisations at local level to strengthen self-governance and development in disadvantaged communities.
  2. Empowering the community to fight against oppression, poverty and marginalisation and achieve a better life.
  3. Advocating for social justice through capacity building to empower the disadvantaged to help themselves and improve their living conditions.
